Commercial buildings here tend to have more doors, more tenants, and more people moving through them than the square footage suggests. That changes the coverage plan. We spend time on entrances, corridors, and any space where cash or controlled inventory changes hands, and we set retention against how long it actually takes someone to notice a problem and ask for footage. Rapid City covers a lot of ground for its population, and the commercial building stock runs from downtown brick to newer construction out toward the interstate. That range matters, because a cable pathway that is straightforward in a 2015 office building is a genuine problem in a downtown block with plaster walls and no accessible ceiling. Wind is a constant consideration for anything mounted outdoors, and the temperature swing across a year is wide enough to matter for equipment that lives in an unconditioned space.
