Black River Contracting is a growing commercial contractor in Rapid City, and the technology holding the business together was not keeping pace with the work. As the team and the job count grew, the office needed reliable connectivity, coverage that reached every corner of the building, a way to see what was happening on site, and control over who could come and go. Brink Design designed and installed a complete technology infrastructure built on a single integrated platform.
What we designed
We planned the whole system as one connected environment rather than a set of separate products. Structured cabling forms the foundation, with a labeled network rack at the center. Enterprise WiFi covers the building for staff and mobile devices. Surveillance and access control layer on top, and Microsoft Intune manages the company's devices so the same standards apply to every laptop and phone in the field.
What we installed
We ran structured cabling to a consistent standard and terminated it at an organized, labeled rack. Access points were placed for even coverage and clean roaming. IP surveillance cameras cover the entrances, yard, and work areas, recording locally so the footage is always there. Electronic access control governs the doors, with credentials the office can issue and revoke in software. Microsoft Intune ties in device management so company hardware stays consistent and current.
What it does day to day
The office runs on WiFi that holds up under real load. The team can check cameras from a phone. Credentials replace keys, so access changes take seconds. Everything is documented, which means adding a camera, a drop, or a new device later is a mapped change rather than a fresh project.
