Distributed audio in a city home is mostly a question of zones and how the house is actually lived in. Kitchen, living areas, and outdoor spaces usually want independent control, since the same volume rarely suits all of them. We place speakers for even coverage rather than symmetry, keep the controls simple enough for everyone in the house, and hide the equipment somewhere serviceable.

Rapid City covers a lot of ground for its population, and the commercial building stock runs from downtown brick to newer construction out toward the interstate. That range matters, because a cable pathway that is straightforward in a 2015 office building is a genuine problem in a downtown block with plaster walls and no accessible ceiling. Wind is a constant consideration for anything mounted outdoors, and the temperature swing across a year is wide enough to matter for equipment that lives in an unconditioned space. We plan around the specific building rather than around a standard approach.
