On new construction, access control belongs in the plan set. Door position, hardware type, and cable pathway all have to agree, and that is a conversation to have with the builder rather than a discovery to make afterward. We review openings during design, coordinate the rough-in, and commission the system once the building is closed. Retrofitting a controlled door into a finished frame is possible, but it is never as clean as doing it during the build.

That combination makes distance between structures a routine design factor, and it makes line-of-sight verification necessary before committing to any wireless link.
