Networking across an agricultural property means connecting buildings that were never meant to be connected. Fiber or wireless links carry the distance, and each structure gets local switching from there. We plan for the environment as much as the topology, since a shop is harder on equipment than an office, and we document the layout, because tracing a network across a property this size without a map is a wasted day.

Conditions in Hermosa

Hermosa is small and mostly rural, with properties that combine a residence, outbuildings, and acreage. Distance between structures is the defining constraint, and cable between them is usually impractical. Terrain in the area is open enough that wireless links generally work well once line of sight is confirmed. Connectivity options are limited, so designs favor reliability and self-sufficiency over anything that assumes fast service.

Hermosa sits in the growing corridor south of Rapid City, mixing agriculture with new residential and small-commercial construction. We coordinate structured cabling and networking with builders here and support local businesses with cameras and WiFi. New homes bring residential audio and theater into the mix.
