Commercial AV
A conference room AV system in Rapid City is priced by the room: how big it is, how many people sit in it, which conferencing platform you use, and how simple the controls need to be for someone who has never been in the room before. A small huddle room with a display and a soundbar is a different project than a boardroom with ceiling microphones, a camera that tracks the speaker, and a touch panel that runs the whole thing. We do not publish price ranges because two buildings with the same square footage can need very different systems. What we can do is show you exactly what moves the number, so you walk into the survey knowing which decisions are yours to make.
Every project is quoted after a site survey, so the number reflects the building and not a template. The survey is free, usually takes under an hour, and ends with an itemized proposal that separates equipment from labor. Start at our contact page or call (605) 600-7710.
What drives the cost of conference room AV?
| Driver | What it does to the number | How to keep it in check |
|---|---|---|
| Room size and seat count | Bigger rooms need larger displays, more microphones, and more speakers so the far end hears everyone. | Match the system to the meetings the room actually holds, not the largest one it could hold. |
| Display | Commercial displays cost more than consumer TVs but are rated for daily use. Video walls and projection are the top of the range. | One correctly sized commercial display covers most rooms. Projection makes sense in training rooms and sanctuaries. |
| Audio | Ceiling or table microphones and in-ceiling speakers are the difference between a call people can follow and one they cannot. | Invest in audio before anything else. It is what remote participants notice. |
| Camera | A fixed wide camera is the least expensive. Auto-framing and speaker-tracking cameras cost more. | Auto-framing is worth it in rooms of eight or more. Small rooms do fine with a fixed camera. |
| Control | Wall plates and simple button panels are inexpensive. Touch panels with custom programming cost more but remove every excuse for a meeting starting late. | Design the control for the least technical person who will use the room. |
| Platform and cabling | Native Teams or Zoom rooms need specific certified hardware. Cable pathways in finished walls add labor. | Standardize on one platform company-wide so every room works the same way. |
What is the most common mistake?
Buying the display first. The display is the most visible part and the least important to how a meeting goes. Rooms that fail do so on audio and on controls: the far end cannot hear the people at the end of the table, or nobody in the room can figure out how to share their screen. Spend on microphones and on a simple control interface, and the display choice takes care of itself.
What is included in a Brink Design conference room proposal?
Display and mounting, camera, microphones and speakers, a conferencing appliance or room PC, control interface, cabling and concealment, programming, testing with your platform, and a one-page guide for the room. Scope is on the commercial AV service page. For worship spaces, church AV that volunteers can run covers the same decisions at sanctuary scale.
Common questions
Questions people ask about this
- Can we use a consumer TV to save money?
- You can, and some small rooms do. Commercial displays are rated for all-day use, carry longer warranties, and have the inputs and control ports a room system needs. For a room that runs meetings every day the commercial display usually costs less over its life.
- Do we need a touch panel?
- Not always. Small rooms work well with a single-button or wall-plate control. Touch panels earn their cost in boardrooms and training rooms where sources, cameras, and lighting all need to be managed.
- Does the system work with Teams and Zoom?
- Yes. We design rooms around the platform you already use, with certified hardware where the platform requires it, so joining a meeting is one touch.
- How long does a conference room install take?
- A huddle room is typically a day. Boardrooms with ceiling microphones, multiple displays, and programmed control take longer, and the proposal includes the schedule.
