Technologies Used:
- Unifi: Deployed Unifi access points (Swiss Army Knife devices) for extensive WiFi coverage across various locations on the property.
- Point-to-Point WiFi Bridges: Used to transmit network connectivity over long distances between buildings and structures.
Implementation Details:
Main House to Shop Connection:
- Set up a point-to-point (PTP) WiFi bridge to cover 642 feet from the main house to a tower near the shop, which was previously used for satellite TV.
- From the tower, the PTP WiFi bridge connects to a box in the shop. This connection then branches into a Unifi access point inside the shop, providing localized WiFi coverage.
Shop to Horse Shed Extension:
- A 60-foot outdoor ethernet cable runs from the shop's PTP box to another PTP device, which sends the WiFi signal to the Horse Shed, located 250 feet away.
- At the Horse Shed, a Unifi access point is mounted on a pole to provide outdoor WiFi coverage for branding and outdoor activities.
- Inside the Horse Shed, a network switch connects to another Unifi access point via ethernet, providing WiFi coverage within the shed itself.
Client Benefits:
- Expanded Coverage: Seamless WiFi connectivity across the entire property, including remote structures like the shop and Horse Shed, as well as outdoor areas.
- Flexible Solution: The combination of point-to-point bridges and Unifi devices offers a scalable solution that can adapt to future needs.
- Cost-Effective: Utilizing WiFi bridges instead of laying physical cables provides an affordable way to extend network coverage over long distances.
- Improved Productivity: Reliable WiFi access throughout the property enhances communication, monitoring, and the use of smart devices in both indoor and outdoor areas.
- Scalable Infrastructure: The modular setup allows for easy expansion or modification to accommodate evolving needs on the property.
